Serj Tankian is a Lebanese-born Armenian-American singer-songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, playwright, record producer, poet, and political activist. He is best known as the lead vocalist, songwriter, keyboardist, and occasional live rhythm guitarist of the rock band, System of a Down.

Interviewer: Why did you decide to go vegetarian?
Serj Tankian: Touring, and its variety of edible crap. As well as the knowledge of industrial slaughterhouses. I also think it was instinctive somewhat.
Interviewer: What is your most important issue concerning animal rights?
Serj Tankian: Respect. We all have to get life from Mother Earth to survive. We need not to alter its already perfect state.
